Escape
Music & lyrics by Matthew Stedeford
"This track is intended to be a little more up-beat in comparison to some of the softer pieces on the album. This song is about someone who has held me over a barrel at one point. The verses are angry, and the choruses calm and choral portraying a feeling of helplessness in trying to escape. This song changes half way through into a positive feeling, with a synth bass, drums and slightly different instrumentation.. instead of resolving like most of the other tracks, it gradually break down. This change half way through is intended to portray a feeling of winning the battle.
Lyrically, this track references 'Endless World' (You make an Endless World of fate/fear... ), 'Destiny' (I'm not designed to win, of that I'm sure...), 'Hold On' (..You can't hold on to me..), and 'I Only Hear You' (I Only hear your voice inside my head...)."
